Chaise longue 39 by Alvar Aalto – Cod. 1396
This chaise longue is part of the design projects of the Finnish architect Alvar Aalto, who in the 1930s experimented with the use of birch wood veneer and steam bending.
The elasticity of the structure, combined with the ergonomics achieved by the crossed linen strips of the seat, make it a significant piece of “Functionalism”.
Moreover, thanks to the characteristic sinuous and balanced lines and pure shapes typical of the architect’s work, the result is an object that is still modern today, with great elegance and personality.
Completely original from the period and in excellent condition.
