We are in one of the most prestigious Renaissance buildings in the historic center of Parma, where I had the opportunity to collaborate with the architect. Erika Caggiati took care of the project of what appears to be a real villa annexed to the Palazzo, with its private garden.
The rooms, with large volumes and unusual heights, and large windows overlooking the courtyard on one side and the internal garden on the other, create fascinating daylight and a feeling of being in an enchanted bubble, between history and the present.
The house was revised by the architect in its traditional layout, with a modern interpretation, trying to insert every element necessary for the new housing needs of the client, with respect and listening to the solemnity of the original environment.
Together with the owner, Erika involved me right from the stage of subdividing the living area, rethinking the various possible uses, building ideal furnishing hypotheses, and trying to set up the spaces with coherence, personality and aesthetic, formal and functional balance.
We have combined different styles and periods, using existing furnishings and architect-designed pieces and incorporating several original period pieces of furniture from the Nordic world.
Everything was completed and enriched thanks to the choice of wool carpets produced by the Danish company Kvadrat, and the insertion of various art objects, mainly from the 1900s, belonging to the private family collection.
The modern lighting, with an extraordinary rendering, is by the Italian company Davide Groppi and helps to create unique atmospheres by designing the environments with character and contemporaneity.
It had been a beautiful job, and I was truly honoured to be a part of it. However, the most valuable thing to me was the sincere and extraordinary bond that was created between the people with whom I collaborated and me.
This makes this project even more special for me and full of human and professional meanings.
